Barrel Band, Type 1, without Bayonet Lug

This is a quality reproduction of an impossible-to-find part,
essential for that early Carbine restoration, or just
that early Carbine "look."

After WWII, the Ordnance Department ordered that all
"Type 1" barrel bands and flip sights
be replaced with barrel bands with bayonet lugs and
adjustable sights. Those original parts were discarded,
which makes them impossible to find today!
Here's your chance to get one nearly indistinguishable
from the original.

Handguard, Super Scout Forward optic mount w/Swan-Weaver (Picatinny) rail

Fits GI-Pattern M1 Carbine (not for "Universal" brand)
Clamps securely to barrel in front of gas block
Comes complete with screws, 4140 steel clamps, wrench & easy instructions

The lowest, most stable and practical optic mount available. The forward positioning allows faster targeting with better field of view, provides more rail length, maintains full access to the receiver mechanism with optics in place, and will not interfere with case ejection. No need to remove your rear iron sight. Use of QD scope rings (allows you to revert to full functionality of iron sights while your handguard remains in place. The MIL STD 1913 (Swan/Weaver["Picatinny"]) rail sits lower than anything else available for this great rifle, providing a better, more natural spot weld for extremely fast target acquisition. No-gunsmithing installation (some stocks require minor inletting of wood inside the forend, while the old GI stocks we've tested require no modification). CNC machined from super strong 6061-T6 Mil Spec hard anodized aluminum.

Muzzle GaugesMuzzle Gauge Demonstration

Muzzle Wear (Erosion Gauge

Toss that dummy cartridge, now you can measure muzzle condition precisely!

Muzzle Gauge is Calibrated in thousandths of an inch

Instructions:

Carefully, so as not to damage the barrel's rifling or the gauge, insert the the gauge into the muzzle as shown. Read the gauge directly from the side. Observe where the muzzle "falls" on the gauge.
  • 0.0 indicates a .300” diameter bore, that is, .30 caliber, new, perfect.
  • 0.5 is like new, .3005 caliber. Proper re-crowning will perfect the crown.
  • 1.0 is excellent for a used barrel (.301 cal.) Re-crowning should make it like new.
  • 1.5 is good (.3015 cal.). Proper re-crowning should make it excellent.
  • 2.0 is fair (.302 cal.). Proper re-crowning should make it serviceable.
  • 2.5 is poor (.3025 cal.). Proper re-crowning might make it serviceable.
  • 3.0 or more is a "bald tire" and is now a British .303 caliber barrel. Replace barrel

Rear Sight Installation Tool

This tool is indispensable for any work needed on that Carbine rear sight.

If you want to remove the sight, if you don't use this tool you're likely to break the receiver dovetail with your hammer and punch.
When you do, there's no way to repair the dovetail, and the receiver is ruined. Avoid that heartache!

When you're intalling the rear sight, this tool makes the task quick, easy and much safer for your receiver.

Even if all you want to do is shift the sight slightly in the dovetail, you need this tool! Highly recommended.

Arms for the Nation

Arms For The Nation (1994) - History of Springfield Armory produced longarms from Flintlock to M14.

Arms for the Nation provides a general history of 174 years of Springfield longarms in one treatise. Springfield Armory was established by Congress in April 1794 and supplied arms for the nation until its closure in April 1968. This book commemorates the bicentennial of the founding of the Armory and describes the longarms developed and produced there.

The introduction provides the reader with an overview of Springfield Armory, its establishment, industrial history, and the National Park Service administered Museum. The remainder of the book defines the eight epochal types of longarms produced by Springfield. A chapter is devoted to the Flintlock Musket, Percussion Musket, Rifle-Musket, Trapdoor Rifle, Krag Rifle, '03 Springfield Rifle, M1 Rifle, and M14 Rifle.

Each chapter describes that particular epochal arm, the various models, their production history, their service record, and significant examples displayed in the Springfield Armory Museum. A chart depicting production quantities, duration of manufacture, length, weight, and caliber is included along with photographs and drawings of each example.
